Ukraine repels Russia's largest tank attack since start of full-scale invasion

Russian forces launched what may have been one of the largest tank attacks on Ukrainian positions since 24 February 2022 on the Avdiivka front on Saturday, 30 March. Having lost a third of their tanks, the Russians made no progress. As many as 36 tanks and 12 infantry fighting vehicles launched an attack along the road leading from Russian-occupied Tonenke to the Ukrainian-controlled village of Umanske. Ukraine's 25th Brigade spotted the convoy and delivered a robust response, hitting 12 tanks and 8 infantry fighting vehicles.


Police identify over a hundred Russian soldiers who committed war crimes in Bucha

March 31 marks the second year since Bucha was liberated from Russian occupation. In 2022, the liberation of Bucha became the first large-scale evidence of war crimes committed by Russians in Ukraine. After the de-occupation, 422 murdered civilians were found in the city, and a total of 1,190 dead were found in the Bucha district. But the figures are not final. The National Police of Ukraine has identified more than a thousand Russian military personnel who were in Bucha in late February 2022. More than 100 of those identified are involved in war crimes.


Russia nears completion of railroad to occupied southern Ukrainian territories

Russia has been building a railroad for over a year to connect with occupied southern Ukraine, which can become a problem for Ukraine, said Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine's Defense Intelligence chief. "This can be a serious problem for us, but I hope that we will somehow cope with the land sections of this railroad, as we all have experience in this," Budanov said.


US House Speaker Jonson promises Ukraine aid bill vote with “innovations” 

US House Speaker Mike Johnson intends to move a Ukraine aid package featuring “important innovations” after recess, but if passed, the House’s alternative bill would require Senate approval, leading to further aid delays.


Russian Foreign Ministry invites banned Taliban delegation to World Islamic Forum in Kazan

The Russian Foreign Ministry has extended an invitation to Afghan Taliban representatives to attend the upcoming Russian-Islamic World Forum in Kazan from May 14-19. Militants from the Taliban Islamist movement, which is banned in Russia, in August 2022 announced that Afghanistan is considering buying oil products and goods from Russia in a barter system. In return, the country agrees to export raisins, medicinal herbs, and minerals to Russia.
