Zelenskyy: NATO will only accept Ukraine as a member after victory

"I believe we will only join NATO after our victory. I do not believe that NATO will accept us while the war is going on. For some NATO members it’s risky, and for some, there is simply skepticism because of it," Zelenskyy said.


Ukraine’s Prosecutor General: Russia used Iskander missile with cluster munitions in April 29 Odesa attack

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General reported that in the April 29 deadly attack on Odesa, Russian forces used a ballistic missile Iskander with a cluster warhead, “a non-selective weapon that can cause significant civilian casualties.” Today the death toll from the Russian attack rose to five.


Red Cross chooses not to suspend Russian membership despite allegations of support for Russian aggression in Ukraine

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) chose not to suspend the Russian Red Cross (RRC) membership despite potential violations of neutrality regulations, according to the Guardian. Earlier, the Red Cross was found supporting Russian aggression in Ukraine and collecting aid for Russian soldiers instead of staying neutral. The IFRC has the authority to suspend members violating the Red Cross principles of neutrality and independence, as it did with the Belarusian chapter in 2023, but not Russia.


US temporarily approves energy transactions with major Russian banks

The US Treasury Department has allowed operations with Russian banks, including VTB, Central Bank, Sberbank and Alfa-Bank, for energy-related transactions until 1 November 2024. The department's resolution clarified that transactions related to the extraction, production, processing, liquefaction, transportation, or purchase of oil and a range of other energy resources, including LNG, timber, coal, and uranium, would be considered energy-related.


Ukraine’s government allocates additional $ 392 mn for drone purchase

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine is allocating an additional UAH 15.5 billion ($392 mn) to purchase drones. Ukraine produced approximately 200,000 FPV drones in January and February 2024, according to Hanna Hvozdiar, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries. 


Ukraine's government says it will not force Ukrainians to return from EU countries

Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, has stressed that Ukraine will not forcibly bring military-age Ukrainian men back from other countries.

"We need a more robust, institutionalized framework for our support to ensure predictability, to ensure more accountability and to ensure burden-sharing," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
