Moscow claims clashes with Ukrainian troops on Russian territory

Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that Ukrainian soldiers broke into the territory of Russia's Kursk region on August 6. The statement came after Russian pro-war Telegram channels wrote that a sabotage and reconnaissance group with heavy equipment had entered the Kursk region in the morning. According to the Russian ministry, the clashes are ongoing, and "reserves of the Russian group of troops are heading to the Kursk direction." Kyiv hasn't commented on the situation yet. Separately, Ukrainian authorities said that forces in the area downed a Russian helicopter and two drones.


1 person killed and 12 injured in Russian attack on Kharkiv

Russian forces carried out a missile attack on the city center of Kharkiv on the morning of 6 August, damaging a clinic building. As of now, 12 individuals have been injured, and one, regrettably, has died.

For outnumbered Ukrainian forces, drones have been one of the key weapons to strike Russian warships, naval bases, oil refineries, and airfields inside occupied territories and deep behind Russia's lines.


Explosion triggers a massive fire at Russia's Usinsk oil refinery

An explosion occurred at the Transneft oil refinery in Usinsk, Russia, on Tuesday. Russian media reported that all refinery employees were evacuated safely. The cause of the explosion has not been disclosed. Telegram channels have posted footage showing the large fire at the refinery.


NYT: Iran requests air defense from Russia to prepare for war with Israel

Iran has requested advanced air defense systems from Russia as it prepares for a possible war with Israel. The New York Times has reported that deliveries are already underway. The New York Times noted that a senior Russian security official, former Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, visited Tehran on 5 August. The visit happened while Iran has been preparing to retaliate against Israel for the assassination of a Hamas political leader on Iranian soil last week.
