Zelenskyy: Without aid, we'll have to fight as in first days of Russia's invasion

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has noted that without the help from international partners, Ukraine will have to stand up to the Russian occupiers alone, as it was on the first day of a full-scale war. He emphasized that it is very difficult, even though there is no other way but to win.


US Senate Republican leader says it's almost impossible to approve aid to Ukraine before Christmas

The US Congress is unlikely to approve an additional funding package for Ukraine before Christmas, even if the two parties reach a deal in the coming days that includes it, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell has said. The official added that there would be no final agreement on aid to Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific region unless US President Joe Biden fully engages in negotiations with Senate Republicans to include provisions restricting migrant flows across the US-Mexico border.


At night Russians attack Kyiv with Iskander and S-400 missiles 

Russian troops launched a missile attack on Kyiv on the night of 12-13 December, using 10 missiles, including S-400 anti-aircraft guided missiles and Iskander cruise missiles. 53 civilians were injured. 20 of them, including two children, were hospitalized. All 10 rockets were eliminated by air defense.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with members of Congress and senators to discuss financial aid to Ukraine. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a representative of the Democratic Party, said that Zelenskyy's meeting with lawmakers was "very powerful". According to Republican Senator Thom Tillis, Zelenskyy was greeted warmly. He persuaded them to provide aid to Ukraine and did not put pressure on the border policy issue in the aid funding bill. Next, the Ukrainian president is to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson and US President Joe Biden.


Biggest Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar is shut down due to Russian hacker attack

"The war with Russia has many dimensions, and one of them is cyberspace. Unfortunately, this morning Kyivstar became the target of a powerful hacker attack, which temporarily disrupted our communication and Internet services. While the timeframe for restoration of services is still unclear, we are working to eliminate the consequences of this attack in order to restore communication as soon as possible," commented Kyivstar CEO. As of 2022, there were approximately 24 mln operators of Kyivstar in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Russians organized a number of DDoS attacks on Ukrainian banks, including Mono and Privatbank.


Ukraine's Defence Minister states Commander-in-Chief's dismissal not considered

Rustem Umierov, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, has stated in a commentary for journalists that the replacement of Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is not being considered.


Armed Forces of Ukraine recapture spoil tip in Horlivka

Members of the 24th Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo have regained control over a spoil tip within the settlement of Horlivka in Donetsk region, that was under occupation since 2014, and raised the Ukrainian flag there.


Austria blocks 12th EU sanctions package

EU ambassadors have so far failed to reach an agreement on the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia, this time because of Austria's position. Austria's dissatisfaction is caused by the fact that Ukraine has included the Austrian Raiffeisen Bank International in the list of international war sponsors.


Newly elected Polish PM says his government will demand total mobilization of West to help Ukraine

"I can no longer listen to politicians who talk about being tired of the situation in Ukraine. They are telling President Zelenskyy that they are tired of the situation," Donald Tusk said. "But we must remember what the war is about. That Ukrainians are fighting for something extremely important, that their battle began on the Maidan, that they are fighting to join the community of the Western world. They want Ukraine to be a democratic, legal state, like Western countries. And they are fighting for it now," Tusk emphasized.
