Zelenskyy replaces the army's Commander-in-Chief

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi reported on a conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy: he wrote that a decision was made on the need for changes in approaches and strategy and expressed gratitude to those he worked with. Later, Zelenskyy reported that the time for renewing the leadership of the Armed Forces is "right now" and mentioned that he offered Zaluzhnyi to stay on the team. Zelenskyy said that the tasks of 2022 are different from the tasks of 2024, therefore, everyone must change and adapt to new realities as well. General Valerii Zaluzhnyi is representative of the new generation of Ukrainian military leaders. He commanded the Ukrainian army from the first days of the invasion. The journalists called Zaluzhnyi an 'Iron General'', recognizing his high efficiency and dedication to military affairs. Zaluzhnyi was named by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2022.


Zelenskyy appoints Oleksandr Syrskyi as new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Oleksandr Syrskyi will become the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address. Since 5 August 2019, Syrskyi has been the Commander of the Ground Forces. During the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, Syrskyi initially organized and led the defense of Kyiv. In April 2022, Syrskyi was given the Hero of Ukraine award for his efforts. In September 2022, media reported that Syrskyi was the architect behind the successful Kharkiv counteroffensive.


HRW: At least eight thousand people in Mariupol have been killed as a result of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine

Human Rights Watch has published a new report on the destruction of Mariupol. Human Rights Watch and the Ukrainian organization Truth Hounds conducted 240 interviews and analyzed 850 photos, videos, documents and satellite images. Between March 2022 and February 2023, more than 10,000 people were buried. At least eight thousand people died as a result of the hostilities. According to Ukrainian data, more than 425,000 people lived in Mariupol before Russia's full-scale invasion. The UN noted that approximately 350,000 left the city in spring 2022.


Ukraine has returned 100 people from captivity 

As a result of the prisoner exchange, 100 Ukrainian servicemen were released. Most of them are defenders of Mariupol.


Ukraine is creating a ‘Cyber Diplomat’ post

At the opening of the Kyiv International Cyber Resilience Forum 2024, Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, suggested that the post of cyber diplomat will soon be created in Ukraine.
