Ukrainian military shoots down Russian A-50 aircraft over the Sea of Azov

The Ukrainian Air Forces have shot down an A-50 radar aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces over the Sea of Azov, Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi reported. The A-50 aircraft is an airborne early warning and control (AWACS) platform designed for monitoring targets in the air, on the ground, and at sea, and for guiding fighter aircraft toward them. According to open data, the Russian army has nine such aircraft in service. The Defence Forces also seriously damaged Il-22M11 aircraft. The Russian military uses it as an airborne command post. After being hit, the aircraft requested evacuation.


Zelenskyy on Peace Formula meeting in Davos: We reduce confidence of murderers

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that, through the work of Ukraine and its partners,  Russia is becoming less confident in its ability to use terror to impose a "predatory world order".


Switzerland to host Global Peace Summit

Viola Amherd, President of the Swiss Federal Council, confirmed the country's intention to organize a peace conference on Ukraine at the highest level after a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on 15 January. Amherd said that the issue of implementing Kyiv's peace initiatives was one of the main topics discussed during her meeting with the Ukrainian president.


Defense Intelligence: Russians produce about 115-130 strategic missiles per month

Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, has said Russia produces about 115-130 strategic missiles and about the same number of tactical missiles (such as Kh-31s and Kh-59s) per month. According to Skibitskyi, Russia is now trying to keep a certain strategic reserve. As a rule, this is about 30% of their reserves.


World Economic Forum hosts meeting of advisers on Ukraine's Peace Formula

The meeting brought together 81 countries and international organizations. The previous gathering in Malta was attended by 66 participants. Chief of the President Office Andrii Yermak noted that 39 European countries, 18 Asian countries, 12 African countries, 6 South American countries, 3 North American countries, and 2 Oceania countries delegated their representatives to Davos.


Ukraine wants China to participate in negotiations to end the war

Ukraine wants China to participate in negotiations aimed at ending the war, said Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Andrii Yermak, at the meeting of national security advisors. Yermak noted the importance of China joining the negotiations for a peace agreement that would end Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.
