“We will not leave this war as a legacy behind us. We will end this war. We will end it on our own terms”, President Zelenskyy said in an opening speech during the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 in Berlin. “If you're asking me whether the time has come for the partners to give us all the arms needed to throw Russia out, then yes, the time has come,” Zelensky said in a response to a journalist's question.
EU to transfer first $ 1.6 bn in frozen Russian assets to Ukraine

Joe Biden's administration has allowed Ukraine's Azov Brigade to use American weapons, reversing a years-old ban, The Washington Post reports with reference to the U.S. State Department. Almost 10 years ago, Azov was banned from using American weapons because of the fake allegation of xenophobic views. Lifting the ban has been a priority for Ukrainian officials, who say the brigade could have been more effective in defending Azovstal in 2022 if it had access to American equipment. Members of the brigade were also prohibited from attending training organized by the American military.
Zelenskyy shares Ukraine's plans to build up 1 gigawatt of power generation by winter
Ukraine has a plan to build up to 1 gigawatt of maneuverable gas generation capacity this year and another 4 gigawatts in the coming years. In his speech, Zelenskyy outlined the consequences of Russian air attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. "As a result of Russian missile and drone strikes, 9 gigawatts of power have already been destroyed, despite the fact that the peak energy consumption in Ukraine last winter was 18 gigawatts... 80% of thermal generation in Ukraine and a third of hydro generation were simply destroyed by Putin. And this is not the limit of his terror, unfortunately," Zelenskyy said.
