G7 pledges $50 billion for Ukraine from seized Russian assets

Leaders of the G7 countries have agreed to provide Ukraine with $50 billion using interest from frozen Russian assets, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on X on June 13. "We are using interest from frozen assets — a smart tool that demonstrates unity to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, greatly aids Ukraine, and relieves pressure on budgets," the minister said.


US signs long-awaited bilateral security agreement with Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden signed a long-awaited bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and the U.S. on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Italy on June 13, Reuters reported. Ukraine and the U.S. held multiple rounds of negotiations on the agreement, which follows the pledge made by the G7 during the NATO summit in Vilnius in July 2023 to commit to Ukraine's long-term defense.


Zelenskyy announces signing of security agreements with US and Japan

On 13 June, Ukraine will sign security agreements with the US and Japan on the sidelines of the G7 summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on social media. The President is visiting the summit in Italy today.


Kryvyi Rih declares mourning: 32 injured, nine dead in Russian missile strike


The number of victims from the Russian missile strike in Kryvyi Rih has risen to 32, Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the city defense council, reported on June 13. The emergency rescue operation at the missile attack site concluded on the evening of June 12. Authorities confirmed nine fatalities and 32 injuries, including five children.


UK announces 50 new sanctions to further “degrade Putin’s war machine”

The UK Government has announced a new package of 50 sanctions designations and specifications aimed at degrading Russia’s ability to fund and sustain its illegal war in Ukraine. The measures, announced while Prime Minister Rishi Sunak attends the G7 Leaders Summit in Italy, are part of coordinated action with the UK’s G7 partners to support Ukraine.


Stoltenberg pushes for clear stance on Ukraine membership

"It's not for me to go into the details on the exact wording but I expect that that language will be even clearer in our commitment that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance," Stoltenberg said. He expressed hope that NATO members would make important announcements about providing Ukraine with more military equipment, air defense systems, and artillery ammunition.
