Russian missiles kill 20 in Odesa

A Russian ballistic missile attack hit a residential area in Ukraine's Black Sea port city of Odesa on Friday, killing at least 20 people and wounding more than 70. A medic and rescuer were killed by a second missile after rushing to the scene to treat people hurt in the initial strike. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia would receive a "fair response" from Ukrainian forces for what he said was a "vile" strike on a city that has been attacked by Russian drones or missiles almost every day this month.


UN report: Russian torture of Ukrainian POWs “widespread and systematic”

Two years after the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine has published a report highlighting the mounting civilian suffering due to Russia’s disregard for humanitarian law and human rights obligations. The Commission found new evidence of violations and war crimes by Russian authorities in areas under their control in Ukraine. “New evidence strengthens the Commission’s previous findings that torture used by Russian authorities in Ukraine and in the Russian Federation has been widespread and systematic,” the report reads.

Macron said that for a lasting peace, Ukraine must regain control of Crimea. After all, Ukraine's sovereignty will ensure peace in Europe. "We are doing everything possible to help Ukraine defeat Russia," the French president said. Macron also commented on Vladimir Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons. He reminded that France also has nuclear weapons, so such threats are inappropriate.


France, Germany, and Poland pledge more weapons for Ukraine in show of unity

At the Weimar Triangle meeting in Berlin, the leaders of France, Germany, and Poland agreed to boost Ukraine’s military support with more weapons, expanded equipment production, and a rocket artillery coalition.


EU Council President sarcastically congratulates Putin for winning upcoming election

"Would like to congratulate Vladimir Putin on his landslide victory in the elections starting today. No opposition. No freedom. No choice," Charles Michel, President of the European Council, wrote.


Ukrainian drones attack Russian oil refinery in Kaluga region

Ukraine attacked a small oil refinery in Russia's Kaluga region with drones early on Friday. Kyiv has conducted a string of drone attacks on major Russian oil facilities in the last week, trying to target the lifeblood of the Russian economy.
