The European Commission has officially recommended starting the process of negotiations on Ukraine and Moldova's accession to the EU
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the European Commission recommends starting negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. "Today, Ukraine and the entire Europe took the right step – the European Commission recommended starting negotiations on Ukraine’s membership," Zelenskyy said in his statement. Emphasizing the resilience of Ukraine, despite challenges, he said he anticipated a forthcoming political decision from the European Council, potentially as early as December.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has responded to the statements of her predecessor Jean-Claude Juncker about "corrupt Ukraine", noting that the reforms Ukraine is implementing are impressive. "These reforms are impressive. They (the Ukrainian government – ed.) have been fighting against money laundering by strengthening the legal system. All this is a part of the reforms the results of which we can see in everyday life in Ukraine so they have not only approved the laws but are implementing them so the negotiations about the EU accession must start now," she said.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will continue the offensive this year and next year
"We have a plan, we have specific cities, specific directions, we have a goal, where we will go, in what direction we will lead the offensive," the Ukrainian president said.
US Congress supports bill to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine
The US House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs has supported a bill to use confiscated Russian assets to help Ukraine. The document authorizes the US Secretary of State to provide additional assistance to Ukraine using assets confiscated from the Russian Central Bank and other sovereign assets of the Russian Federation.
Parliament prolongs martial law and mobilization in Ukraine
Parliament supported the laws on Decrees on the prolongation of martial law and general mobilization. A total of 329 and 322 votes were given correspondingly for the bills.
Russians target Liberian ship with missile in Odesa Region, casualties reported
The Russian forces targeted the superstructure of a civilian ship under the flag of Liberia with a missile on the evening of 8 November, just when the vessel was entering a port in Odesa region. Three crew members, who are citizens of the Philippines, were injured. One of them was hospitalized. The maritime pilot was killed, and another port worker was injured.
