Zelenskyy: the first step in the Victory Plan is to invite Ukraine to join NATO
Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again spoke about Ukraineʼs Victory Plan, which he has already presented to US President Joe Biden and is now presenting to other leaders, and noted that if fully implemented, Russia would lose the ability to threaten Ukraine or anyone else in Europe. "The first step of the plan focuses on whether the problem of geopolitical uncertainty in Europe will be resolved – whether Ukraine will get a seat in NATO. If so, and if this is properly confirmed, Putin will lose from a geopolitical point of view. Russia must recognise that Europe has borders and independent states, and everyone has the right to choose their future. The truth is that Russia's acceptance of this reality can only begin with the realization that Ukraine will never be conquered by Russia again… There will be no peace without geopolitical certainty," he said.
Ramstein-format meeting postponed after Biden cancels foreign visits
The next summit of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) scheduled for October 12 in Germany was postponed after the U.S. President Joe Biden canceled his overseas travel to handle Hurricane Milton, AFP reported on October 9, citing a statement by the Ramstein Air Base. Biden was supposed to convene a first leader-level meeting of the Ramstein summit in Germany weeks ahead of the U.S. presidential election, where President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was expected to present his victory plan.
Zelenskyy announced peace formula will be ready in November with conditions for a just end to the war
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the complete Peace Formula with conditions for a “just end to the war” will be ready by November. According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian side has been working on this peace plan since July, and the finalized version will be presented at the second Peace Summit for Ukraine. The President emphasized that the plan outlines all the necessary conditions to achieve a just resolution of the war.
Ukrainian journalists report Russian occupiers torture resident of Kherson Oblast to death
In the city of Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast, Russian invaders tortured a 45-year-old resident, Volodymyr Zakabluk, to death, according to the Center for Journalistic Investigations. Terror against the civilian population in occupied territories has become a common practice for the Russian military toward Ukrainians. In addition to establishing a network of torture chambers across Ukrainian territories, the occupiers persecute civilians who speak Ukrainian, hold Ukrainian passports, and refuse to send their children to Russian schools that brainwash them.
Macron meets Ukrainian soldiers training in France
On 9 October, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Ukrainian soldiers from the 155th Brigade who are undergoing training in France’s eastern region of Grand Est and wished them success. Macron spent over half an hour speaking with the Ukrainian soldiers, approaching each one in turn and asking where and how long they had served and what specific training they needed.
Drones strike artillery depot in Russia’s Bryansk region
Ukraine reportedly struck a Russian depot in the border Bryansk region overnight housing ammunition made by North Korea. The warehouse, located in the Bryansk town of Karachev, was 114 kilometers (71 miles) from the Ukrainian border, Andriy Kovalenko, an official with Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, said in a post to messaging app Telegram.
