3 Red Cross employees killed, 2 injured in Russian attack on Donetsk Oblast

Russian forces attacked the Kostiantynivka community in Donetsk Oblast and the village of Borova in Kharkiv Oblast on September 12, killing five people and injuring at least nine, local authorities reported. Russia attacked a residential area in Borova with cluster munitions, setting at least five houses on fire, Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov said, citing preliminary information. "The enemy launched a 'double-tap' attack," he added. A man and a woman were killed, and at least seven other people suffered injuries, according to the governor.


Russia strikes cargo ship with Ukrainian wheat for Egypt in Black Sea

A Russian missile struck a cargo ship carrying Ukrainian wheat to Egypt through the Black Sea on Sept. 12, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported. Kyiv was forced to set up a new export route in the Black Sea last year after Russia unilaterally terminated the Black Sea grain deal. Initially envisioned as a humanitarian corridor to allow the departure of ships stranded there since the start of the full-scale war, it has since grown into a full-blown trade route.


Fourth Crimea Platform Summit draws over 60 international participants in Kyiv

Over 60 participants joined the Fourth Summit of the International Crimea Platform on 11 September, as announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda, Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković, and Prime Minister of Latvia Evika Siliņa. The Crimea Platform, initiated by Ukraine, serves as an international coordination mechanism to return the issue of Crimea to the agenda, protect human rights in Crimea, and promote the deoccupation of the peninsula, strengthening European and global security.

Son of Ukraine’s Chief Rabbi Azman killed in action on frontlines

The son of Ukraine’s Chief Rabbi, Moshe Azman, has been killed on the frontlines. The funeral for Matisyahu Samborsky took place on 12 September in Kyiv. Moshe Azman last spoke with his son on 17 July, and a week later, on 24 July, after a battle, a report began emerging stating that Matiyahu was missing.


Russia claims to have recaptured 10 settlements in Kursk Oblast amid ongoing counterattack

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed on September 12 that Russian soldiers had regained control of 10 settlements earlier captured by Ukraine in Kursk Oblast. The statement follows reports claiming that Moscow had launched a counterattack in the embattled Russian region, which has been partially held by Ukrainian forces since the start of the cross-border incursion on Aug. 6. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed these claims on Sept. 12. "Everything is going according to our plan," he said at a press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.
